Vacation

It is the summer 2015. In Sweden we have long summer vacations, normally around 5 weeks. I like to have a couple of weeks off of my job - go back for a week or two and then go back on vacation again. Partly because my I always have some administrative work to do (payroll, invoicing etc) and partly because I think my brain needs a break - but not too long, or I get lazy. :)

Anyway, during the summer I don’t do much programming work. My plans for this summer includes the following:

Build a balcony on our house

This is almost done. We built a new house last year, but there are still some things left to do. This balcony is one of the things we skipped last summer, so now it’s time to build it.

Build a loft in our summer house

This will take some time, but we are finally fixing the attic in our summer house so we can bring some more guests - and maybe even rent it out during the parts of the year when we don’t use it ourselves.

Podcasting plans

I love to make podcasts, but I’ve fallen off the bandwagon on this lately. Other things have been more prioritized, mostly because I did not have a specific plan for our podcasts.

So during the summer I plan to make a plan for the podcasts. This will help me keep to a regular episode schedule during the fall.

Really take some some time off the business

I love working on and in my company. I love working on my side projects. But sometimes I need a break to perform at my best when it is time to work. This year I’m not giving much attention to work/side projects during summer. I’m checking the e-mail a couple of times per week to make sure there’s nothing that needs to be done, and I’m really enjoying my vacation - minus the horrible swedish weather this year.

I hope you enjoy your summer, too.
